Can you guess what I was doing in this photo?
Well, yeah, posing...but what am I doing? Yes, posing...but what exactly is my pose?
Punching, right! Looks like I enjoyed it, right?
Not the punch, the pose.
Now I have gotten your attention...please read below.
What is written on my shirt, you say? MJKO? What is that? I am glad you asked!
MJKO (Mentoring Junior Kids Organization) is a non-profit organization that provides free boxing programs to youth and children aged 18 and under. This is to keep the kids off the street and into a fun environment, not to mention, it's free!
91 and counting is how one Toronto youth describes the current violence in our city. 91 homicides in 2018, have left many youth and children feeling afraid and seeking ways to feel safe. MJKO is proud to offer daily, free access to boxing training with certified coaches. We are using the sport of boxing to help kids feel safe again. We are teaching them how boxing can be a tool for good physical and mental health but we NEED YOUR HELP!! It's been a challenging year of grant declines and we need help keeping kids in the gym and off the streets.
We are seeking support from the public during this year's #GivingTuesdaymovement.
#GivingTuesday is a global movement for giving and volunteering. It's a time when charities, companies and individuals join together and rally for their favorite causes.
Keep the kids of South Parkdale safe this #GivingTuesday!
Note: The fundraising will stay open till we have raised $10,000 or until December 31st, 2018.
I joined in 2011, confused about my life - that has NOT changed at all - my dad and siblings were already in the program, and they brought me along. I did not want to go, but after a few months I started going by myself.
With time, I became a Youth Coach, made friends and eventually MJKO became my family.
Let me tell you something, MJKO is not like any other boxing organization; everyone there feels like a family, there is a sense of belonginess, comfort, and support. I am glad my dad introduced MJKO to me. Thanks, Papa.
Miranda and Ibrahim Kamal, the co-founders of MJKO, are the most giving, caring and supportive couple who love giving back to the community and would do anything to make the world better, especially for people going through issues and/or are in a need of an outlet.

With the Head Coaches - what an honour! Hearing the Deaf challenge led by me - Summer 2015
Please help donate money to MJKO. The money will help the programs to keep running as well as to pay for the gym which is located in Parkdale, Toronto.
Here is a short message from Miranda:

With gratitude always,

Please help donate!
There are different ways of donating, if not money, you can donate clothes, toiletries, food - all that will go to the kids in the program.
Much appreciated.
