Happy Canada Day, my fellow Canadians!
This year, our Canada is now 151 years old. It still seems so young.
It is a hot day, HOT HOT. The news said that us Torontonians will be expecting heat wave and gave us tips on how to stay hydrated. Whew, it is a full sunny day. The sun's heat is scorching hot. I don't see that many people outside, compared to last year which was a very special year and birthday for Canada, turning 150! A lot of people were outside celebrating, and we had lots of entertainments here. Lots of people went to Ottawa as well, this year, too. I was also planning to go, but decided to stay in Toronto as driving to Ottawa would be hectic due to road closure and construction, not to mention the crazy traffic! I didn't hear any good things I missed in Ottawa, so I guess it was a good thing I didn't go.
Instead, what did I do here? Well, I'll tell you. Boyfriend and I had to do a little grocery shopping and we needed to grab some beer. We did that. Oh, and! Did you all try the Mango Dragonfruit drink from Starbucks? I've heard good things from my friends, and have been wanting to try it. Let me tell you...it. is. GOOD. Try it if you haven't! In my drink, there was a bit of lemonade juice, which I liked better then just the Mango Dragonfruit, which worked out because my boyfriend liked it without the lemonade juice. MMMM. Sipping on it as I'm typing this.
We came back home, tired, as it was hot. The sun was so harsh, the house inside was HOT, too. Although, it is nothing compared to Cuba in the summer, when I went last year, in August. BOILING HOT. People were sweating constantly, there was no avoiding the heat, unless you went to the hotel room with AC on full blast. The beach did no justice, the water was warm, too. WHEW. Okay okay, I am going off topic. Cuba trip - Aug. '17, I will save you for some other day.
I had Indian food for lunch, good food, good food. We watched the movie called, "the Quiet Place." I also have been waiting to watch it for a while...and I am glad. The movie was worth the wait! I get to watch it at home, while eating lunch, feeling content. The movie was very very intense. My heart would not stop thumping (not literally, because, you know what would happen if the heart stopped thumping). There were a lot of ASL (American Sign Language), which was good because I could understand it, rather than having a movie with lots of voices, making me hard to keep up with who is saying and what. The background music does not help at all. Seriously, online movies? ADD SUBTITLES, ALWAYS MAKE THAT AN OPTION. Anyway, do watch it if you're into a suspense horror kind of film. It really makes you think about life. Yes, the movie does have subtitles. I watched it online, through a website. I didn't do the work, I wouldn't know which website to go to.
Fast forward to few hours later, at around 8pm, boyfriend and I decided to go biking to the Harbourfront Centre, let me tell you, that was a good idea. There was a slight breeze while biking, it was still very warm, but manageable. I wore the new outfit, a summer dress. Riding on it was easy peasy, because I wore shorts underneath the dress so I was not too worried about flashing anything. I still made sure my dress was not flying up, just a precaution, as I mentioned it was a little breezy. There were food stands there, people walking by, sitting by the Sugar Beach, HTO Park and lots of people were on water, boating, kayaking, etc. It was a full of harmonium, relaxation, and happiness.
At the Harbourfront Centre, there were also food stands, entertainment - concert for this one. But the one thing I found the best of all was, there were mini ping pong tables!! WHAAAAAT. Last year there were mini ping pong tables, and I played with boyfriend, we carried on the tradition today. There were a bit of a wait and a mix up regarding waiting for the table and which people could use, etc etc. I was sad, I didn't get to play at first, I so badly wanted to play! I was about to give up on waiting for a spare table, when one of the guys, who was managing the area, came up to us asked if we were waiting for a table, we said "yes". Then he proceeded us to the next table where 2 players were just finishing up the game.
No, they did not finish the game, because the next table to them were empty and we caught that one. It was fun, I was all smiles again, laughing and enjoying myself. The ping pong tables are only there July 1st to 2nd. Sadly, not every weekend. For those who did get to use it, did you have fun? For those who didn't, you should go next year, and play!! If they decide to station the tables there. Let's see.
There were no giant rubber duck this year, or anything fancy fancy. Whatwas the most shocking, though, was there were no fireworks in Downtown, Toronto! Besides, Woodbine Beach. I was flabbergasted! I did hear fireworks somewhere by the Music Garden while biking back home, but did not see any. Weird!
To end this fantastic day, I went to Boston Pizza, only because I had cravings for Brownies with Ice cream and most of the restaurants were closed. I did eat dinner, and dessert, yay! For dinner, we ordered a shareable which consisted of small slices of pizza, mild chicken wings, I was so darn full by the time I came home; I could not move. My belly grew and it was kind of noticeable, haha.
I hope you all had a nice, enjoyable long weekend!! Here's to 151 this year! Happy Birthday, once again, Canada!
1. Mango Dragonfruit drinks!! The lighter one is the one with the lemonade juice.
2. The flag is hidden in the leaves, I found it! (I put it there). Hehe. I know, the dress isn't red, not very Canadian of me. Sorry!
3. The ice cream, my 2 likable flavours - strawberry and vanilla. Yum!
4. The picture is blurry, but you can see me playing ping pong and having fun. :)
